Stadium Description
The Oakland Coliseum was one of the most beautiful parks in baseball before the Oakland Raiders needed to modify the stadium to support a football team. The A's tarp off some of the football seats now, but the stadium is still very difficult to fill. This is great for keeping ticket prices down, and these are some of the easiest tickets in town to get. With the return of Jason Giambi to the A's, you can expect a slight rise in crowd attendance, but tickets will still be available. The food here is great; check out the garlic fries and the second-deck pina coladas.
Airport

Oakland Airport (OAK) - 3 miles from the Coliseum. The Oakland Airport is almost within walking distance of the Coliseum; it is literally on the same road. It is an easy shuttle or taxi ride, but many shuttles will go to nearby hotels and restaurants as well.
Transportation

Ballpark Tickets
Oakland Coliseum is one of the (if not THE) most reasonably priced
stadiums out there, and tickets (even to playoff games), are not in
high demand. This ballpark almost never sells out. Tickets can be
purchased through the official Oakland A's site on www.mlb.com, but it
is quite possible that you can pick up sets of tickets for less than
face value for any game, even Yankees/Red Sox. Regular seating ticket
prices range from $9-$55 on the official site.
Parking
The Oakland Coliseum is unusual in
that it allows tailgating in its parking lot, so if you are early to a
game, stop by the store and bring your food into the parking lot! It
costs about $15 to park your car in the lot, but you are allowed in
three hours before a game, so it's like an extra party.
Chix Tip: If you have a rental car, or an older car, with absolutely
nothing of real or implied value in it, there is parking across the
bridge in the dirt on the side of the road for free. Parking lot
attendants on either side of the street will try to get you to pay for
lot parking, but the street is free. But be warned: that particular
area is high-profile for cars break-ins (Chix Trip lesson #101 learned)
so leave nothing of value behind.
Restaurants
The Oakland Coliseum is unusual in that it allows both tailgating, and food to be brought into the Coliseum. People have been known to carry entire boxes of doughnuts into the park!
