Maybe you'd like to learn about baseball. Maybe you have a child playing T-ball, and you have to learn about baseball. Maybe you are already a fan, and you want to learn even more about the nuances of the sport.

Before you can become a true baseball fan (or even a casual one), it helps to know the sport. Written by baseball chix for baseball chix, this section is an easy-to-understand guide to some of the finer points of this wonderful; yet complicated, game. Baseball can be enjoyed at many levels; it lends itself to the casual fan, who just wants to know the basics; to the baseball expert, who enjoys analyzing every at-bat. Follow the menu on the left; pick your favorite category, and work your way through different links as you go from an introduction to baseball to advanced statistics and fantasy sports.

Choose your team and How to Play are an introduction to becoming a baseball fan; how to choose your team, how to get to know your team, and how to follow that team through the seemingly never-ending 162 games of the season using currently technology.

If you already watch baseball, and can follow a game, then you should skip the 1st-3rd Innings, which are a basic instruction on the game of baseball; the teams, the leagues, how to play. This section is meant for our true Rookies, who want to start at the very beginning. Things pick up in the 4th Inning; you can learn how to read a box score, and decipher baseball abbreviations.

The 5th-9th Innings are a much more advanced look at baseball, spanning everything from the common baseball arguments (Interleague Play, the designated hitter rule, does clutch hitting exist) to statistical concepts such as OPS. The 6th inning is a course in Fantasy Baseball written by a veteran player.

Be sure to take a break with the 7th Inning Stretch, and learn about the history of baseball, and this little tradition!

Read as much or as little as you would like to get a flavor for this wonderful game, and if you need more clarification, or your own question answered, be sure to Contact the Chix.
